Scarborough castle clifftop walk

You cannot miss Scarborough castle, sat on the hillside overlooking the seaside town. It is a very steep walk up to the castle, but worth it. This photo was taken from the side of the castle, as we walked further up the cliff towards other side of the bay.

Ripley Castle walls and garden

Ripley castle is much smaller than I expected it to be, but, it was fun to walk around. Make sure you take the tour to find out about the history of the castle. Walk around the gardens and deer park. Then relax at the tea room or explore the fantastic little village of Ripley.

Scarborough beach and coastline views

Scarborough is a typically British seaside town and the largest on Yorkshire coast. On the North Bay you will find Peasholm Park, and the new open air theatre. The South Bay is where you will find the harbour and town centre. Great beaches, well maintained.

Scarborough harbour on the South Bay

There’s quite a lot to take in on this photo. The lighthouse is in the background and Regal Lady steamboat that we took a trip on later in the day. The harbour is much quieter, many fewer fishing boats, than I remember it as a kid on our family holidays.

Views of Holy island Lindisfarne

I am quite surprised how good this photo looks, with detail of the stone wall, and barn. This was taken on Holy island as the tides were out, and the views are as good as they look in this photograph. Great place for walking holidays.
