I stayed in Hobart, and my friend Kirsty took me to Bonorong Wildlife Park that looked after Tasmanian devils. Yes, it looks nothing like the cartoon character. Apparently, they were seen as a threat to livestock in Tasmania and were hunted until 1941, when they became protected.

I love the Tassie Devils – recently been over to Tasmania and seen a few myself. Was this in Bonorong Wildlife Park?
Hi Katie,
Me too. No one believe that they looked like a small dog when I showed family and friends my family snaps. I went to Tasmania in 2003, and can’t for the life of me remember name of the park – I’ll have to email my friend Kirsty and ask her.
Katie – just googled the park, and yes, it was Bonorong Wildlife Park! I have a photo somewhere of a Koala bear crapping on my shoulder ha. Will have to dig that one out.
Thanks for letting me know – what a great wildlife park it is too! I think everyone has the wrong perceptions of the how the devils look thanks to the Warner Brothers depiction, and the wrong perception of them as animals because of the name. Do dig out the koala bear photo too!
